Brazil is fast emerging as a major economic force, being the 5th largest country in the world and the 15th largest economy, it is part of BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India China). The 4 emerging economic powerhouses.
For many investors now is right to invest in what many people are heralding as the next investment destination. But hold on one second, not so fast. Brazil is a huge country with millions of acres of undeveloped land, it doesn´t relate to any European destination, where land is a premium. The country has the most diverse economic extremes, with super rich and poverty not far from one another. With some of the planets most valuable forests and pollution in other areas.
Our concern with property/real estate investment in Brazil starts with the amount of new development being planned in the areas being promoted (North East/Natal area) where we expect there to be thousands of resort type housing projects, of various quality, built with no natural or immediate occupants. Holiday makers will undoubted take up some of the space, but the number of options will kill the demand and therefore the returns. Think Southern Spain now........
