Italy, simply mention the place and you can usually find someone within earshot who ´loves all things Italian´ and will be happy to share memories of ´a great little place we found´ and how much they wanted a weekend place there.
Whilst much of Italy is simply too expensive for investing, or simply not suitable, buying a second home there might be affordable if you pick the right location.
However, given the current (2010) situation regarding the Euro and the concerns over the Euro-economy, we are not confident this is the best time for UK (Sterling) based investors to consider Italy as an investment. We strongly suggest avoiding Off-plan, particularly where the developers are not well established and financially solid. In fact, while the Euro continues its long overdue correction in value and the economy starts a recovery, why risk the money?
