Tinas Top 10 Travel Tips

1. When flying, always take an iPod/Walkman/MP3Player with you to deter unwelcome travel companions. Never read a book - they will want to strike up a conversation about it.

2. Never put an important document in the seat pocketin front of you - especially your passport. It willstay there.

3. Always wear shoes if you´re visiting the toilet on a plane - bad aimers and bare feet don´t mix.

4. If you´re trying for an upgrade, ditch the ´University of Booze´ t-shirt and put on a suit.

5. Never listen to a stranger who approaches you in a foreign city and says they want to show you a great new bar/restaurant/club. Unless you´re up to arguing with the local mafiosi, your beer will cost you £500 and, if you haven´t got it, it´s bye bye kneecaps.

6. Look for restaurants that are full of locals unless you like eating overpriced tourist fodder.

7. Don´t go on holiday with someone from work, unless you plan on changing jobs when you get back.

8. Open-toed sandals, three-quarter length socks and flip-top sunglasses are never a good look - on anyone.

9. Brush up on local customs to avoid confusion. In Turkey, for example, a nod of the head means ´no´.

10. Don´t make jokes about bombs at US Customs. Infact, don´t make jokes at US Customs - period.
